Kautilya Group

United States

Kautilya Group is a New Jersey-based hotel owner, developer and manager led by chairman and CEO Gary (Gaurang) Patel and Vinita Patel. It began in 2000 by buying a small hotel in Virginia, entered Connecticut with a second hotel in 2005 and now focuses on upper-midscale and extended-stay hotels in the Northeast and Midwest; its website lists seven hotels including Hampton Inns in Sunbury and Jeffersonville, Ohio and Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, and Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites in Clarion, Pennsylvania, while Hartford Business Journal reported in 2022 that it operated 12 hotels. It bought the vacant former Holiday Inn and Ramada at 363 Roberts Street in East Hartford for $3.4 million and reopened it in 2026 as a dual-branded Fairfield Inn and Suites and TownePlace Suites by Marriott. On September 17, 2026, G6 Hospitality announced a five-hotel new-construction agreement with Kautilya for Studio 6 Plus, starting with two 118-room hotels in the Hartford market targeted to begin construction in the first quarter of 2027.
