Benjamin W. Schall

Benjamin W. Schall has served as CEO and President of AvalonBay Communities since January 2022, after joining as President and Director in 2021. Previously, he was CEO and President of Seritage Growth Properties, and held senior roles at Rouse Properties and Vornado Realty Trust, both publicly traded REITs. He is active in industry organizations including Nareit and NMHC, and serves as Co-Chair of University Settlement in New York City. Schall holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
