AstraZeneca Processing Facility

Albemarle County, Virginia

The AstraZeneca Processing Facility is a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing complex under construction at the Rivanna Futures Site in Albemarle County, Virginia. The project encompasses two major plants: one for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) targeting chronic diseases and another for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) focused on oncology therapies. As the largest single investment in AstraZeneca’s history, the facility will serve as a cornerstone for the company’s U.S. expansion and innovation strategy. Construction began in 2023, with completion targeted for late 2026, and the site is expected to create 600 direct jobs and 3,000 indirect jobs.
