Atrium at Sumner Houses

Atrium at Sumner Houses is a newly completed, 11-story affordable senior housing development located within the NYCHA Sumner Houses campus in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The project delivers 190 deeply affordable apartments for seniors, including units reserved for formerly homeless individuals, and features a dramatic central atrium that brings natural light and green space to residents. Designed by Studio Libeskind to Passive House standards, the building incorporates advanced energy-efficient systems and community-focused amenities such as a performing arts space and a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Center. As of April 2024, the project is fully completed and leasing, representing a significant milestone in sustainable, inclusive urban housing.
