Empire Wind Offshore Wind Energy Project

New York, New York

Empire Wind is a large-scale offshore wind energy project located off the coast of New York, designed to deliver up to 2.1 GW of renewable power to the state. The project is being developed in two phases, with Empire Wind 1 comprising 54 turbines and a capacity of 810 MW, enough to power 500,000 New York homes. It is the first offshore wind project to deliver power directly to New York City, supporting the state's ambitious clean energy targets and creating significant economic and environmental benefits. As of November 2025, construction is underway but temporarily halted due to a federal order, with future progress contingent on regulatory developments.
