Empire Wind is a large-scale offshore wind energy project located off the coast of New York, designed to deliver up to 2.1 GW of renewable power to the state. The project comprises two phases, Empire Wind 1 and Empire Wind 2, with a combined total of over 130 wind turbines situated 15–30 miles south of Long Island. It is a cornerstone of New York’s clean energy transition, expected to power over one million homes and support significant economic and environmental benefits. As of late 2025, the project is under construction with commercial operations targeted for 2026-2027.
