Ford-SK On EV Battery Manufacturing Facilities

Glendale, Kentucky

The Ford-SK On EV Battery Manufacturing Facilities, located in Glendale, Kentucky, represent a $5.8 billion joint venture between Ford Motor Company and SK On to produce advanced lithium-ion batteries for next-generation electric vehicles, including the Ford F-150 Lightning and E-Transit. The project spans two massive plants on a 1,500-acre campus, with a combined annual production capacity exceeding 80 gigawatt-hours. This is the largest economic development project in Kentucky’s history, creating up to 5,000 jobs and solidifying the state’s position as a leader in EV battery production. Commercial production began in August 2025 at the first plant, with the second facility on hold due to market demand.
