Kingston Energy Complex with Battery Storage

Kingston, Tennessee

The Kingston Energy Complex with Battery Storage is a major infrastructure project under construction in Roane County, Tennessee, led by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The project will replace the historic Kingston Fossil Plant with a modern facility integrating 750 MW of combined cycle natural gas, 800 MW of flex-fuel aeroderivative turbines, 100 MW of battery storage, and up to 4 MW of solar generation. Designed to supply reliable, flexible, and cleaner energy to approximately 900,000 homes, the complex is a cornerstone of TVA’s regional decarbonization and grid modernization strategy. As of November 2025, construction is progressing, with phased commissioning through 2029.
