New Stapleton Waterfront Mass Timber Development

Staten Island, New York

The New Stapleton Waterfront Mass Timber Development is a transformative, 32-acre mixed-use, mixed-income waterfront neighborhood on Staten Island’s North Shore, anchored by the largest mass timber residential project in New York City and one of the largest in the United States. The project will deliver over 2,100 mixed-income residential units, ground-floor retail, a 600-seat public school, and community facilities, all integrated with 12 acres of interconnected public open space. Its use of mass timber construction significantly reduces embodied carbon, setting a new standard for sustainable urban development in the city. Currently, the project is in the design and planning phase, with construction expected to begin in 2027.
