Panasonic Energy Battery Plant
De Soto, Kansas
The Panasonic Energy Battery Plant in De Soto, Kansas is a 4.7 million-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the mass production of cylindrical lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. Spanning 300 acres, it is the largest economic development project in Kansas history and is expected to create up to 4,000 direct jobs and thousands more in the local supply chain. The plant aims for an annual production capacity of 32 GWh, significantly boosting Panasonic's North American output and supporting the rapid growth of the EV market. As of late 2025, the facility is operational and producing batteries, though full production ramp-up has been delayed due to market and policy shifts.
