Ultium Cells Battery Plant

Lansing, Michigan

The Ultium Cells Battery Plant in Lansing, Michigan is a 2.8 million-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility dedicated to producing lithium-ion battery cells for General Motors’ next-generation electric vehicles. Developed as a joint venture between GM and LG Energy Solution, the plant is designed to supply up to 50 gigawatt hours of battery cell capacity annually, supporting GM’s transition to an all-electric vehicle portfolio. The project is a cornerstone of GM’s electrification strategy, expected to create over 1,700 new jobs and catalyze regional economic growth. As of late 2025, the facility is under construction with battery production scheduled to commence by the end of 2025.
