The University of Iowa Health Care Patient Care Tower is a transformative hospital expansion project designed to address growing demand for advanced inpatient and specialty care in Iowa City and the surrounding region. The project encompasses an 842,000-square-foot, multi-story facility featuring a new main entry, state-of-the-art surgical platforms, and integrated connections to existing hospital infrastructure. As the largest capital project in the university’s history, it aims to modernize patient care delivery, improve operational efficiency, and support future growth. The tower is currently in the enabling and early construction phase, with full core construction scheduled to begin in late 2026 and completion targeted for 2032.
