El Algarrobico Hotel
Carboneras, Almería, Spain
El Algarrobico is an unfinished 411-room hotel on the beach at Carboneras, Almería, inside the Cabo de Gata-Níjar natural park, begun by developer Azata del Sol in 2003 and halted by court order in 2006 because it stood on protected land. Spain's Supreme Court ordered its demolition in 2016, and it has stood empty for two decades.
